The Concept in a Nutshell
In the vast expanse of existence lies a primordial energy known as mana, a force immaterial yet omnipresent, the very breath of creation. In rare moments when mana condenses into a single point, it gives birth to an Onymagi, a living embodiment of magic formed where power converges. Sometimes this convergence draws in the matter nearby. When mana and the physical world intertwine, fragments of metal, stone or other materials become infused with the same mystical essence. Each Onymagi is therefore not only a creature of pure energy but also carries within itself echoes of the world it was born from.
Every species of Onymagi is linked to an incantation, its innate ability and expression. When a new species appears, a new spell comes into being. These incantations are the means through which mana can take shape and serve a purpose. Without them, mana would remain an invisible current that flows through everything without form or intent.
Humans, and perhaps other beings, cannot naturally manipulate mana in this way. Their bodies are not attuned to shape incantations directly. Instead, they rely on technology. In its dormant state, an Onymagi rests within a platelet, a compact fragment of its essence.
When a platelet is connected to specialized equipment, its incantation can be accessed and used, allowing its bearer to channel the power of the Onymagi bound to it.
Concept Visions
These images represent the first concept explorations of the Onymagi universe.Each one captures a different aspect of how mana, matter and technology interact to give shape to life.
The plates represent the natural resting form of Onymagi. When these beings are weakened or depleted of mana, their essence condenses into a compact, inert state to recover energy over time. This phenomenon has drawn the attention of scholars and inventors who study these plates to understand and harness the flow of mana itself. Through advanced equipment, it becomes possible to channel a small portion of an Onymagi’s dormant power without ever summoning or disturbing the creature.
The Onymagi embody the pure link between magic and form. Each species reflects a unique way in which mana merges with the physical world, giving rise to new incantations and abilities.
The character concept explores the aesthetic of this universe, the clothing, materials and design language that define how people might live in a world where mana and technology coexist.
These are early visual studies of a growing world, created to define its tone, atmosphere and identity as the story of Onymagi continues to unfold.
The Experience
Onymagi was born from a single idea: what if magic could exist as an energy we can study, connect with and shape?

Future prototypes will focus on experimenting with mechanics, art and narrative to find the form that best expresses the heart of this idea.

Current Phase
